Santos Candelario
Hi Everyone! My name is Santos Candelario and I am a recent graduate from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Philosophy. I am interested in (critical) phenomenology, metaphysics, German idealism, post-Kantian philosophy, and some political and legal philosophy. I was born and raised in Modesto, CA and have 6 siblings. Both of my parents immigrated from Michoacan, Mexico when they were young and still live in West Modesto. At 21, I was shot at a family friend's quincenera. Fortunately, the wound was not fatal and I recovered quickly. This incident was transformative to how I approach the art of writing and doing philosophy. Right now, I am working on a graduate writing sample which explores Frantz Fanon's notion that a bodily form of suffering is central to racism, as presented in Black Skin, White Masks. Additionally, I have a blog called "100 Word Stories", where I write 100 words a day, whatever it might be.
